Hi! Welcome to my channel! I absolutely love sports! And as you can tell by my name, I love the rich history of hockey and baseball, basketball, golf and even tennis!
Elgin Baylor Feature (4K)
Some upgrade on the quality of the last one. That was very poor. So here's a better version of the late, great, Lakers' legend!
What a legend! Before Dr. J, there was Elgin Baylor. (Little bit of PS2 at the end. I might replace this with a cleaner version)
My apologies for being away for so long! Three years? I've been so busy!

Mickey Mantle Last Plate Appearance

All good things come to an end. The Mick came to the dish @ Fenway Park 9/28/68. In the top of the first inning, he faced Jim Lonborg of the Boston Red Sox, who'd won the Cy Young award in 1967. The New York Yankees had actually improved from three tough years. They'd actually won 82 games, their first winning season since 1964. Boston wasn't quite the team they'd been the year before. It would...

So, no Yankees in the World Series for the second time in the 1950s (1954 is the other year). The White Sox vs. the LOS ANGELES Dodgers! Lookout Al Smith, for the greatest beer shower of all @ 8:03 LOL! (PS, don't we all hate seeing ballpark beer, which always seems to taste better then at home, get wasted?)

Not all World Series against the Cardinals ended well for the Red Sox. This one was the last for The Kid and The Man!

In between games 4 and 5 and on the way from Canada to USSR, there was a two game showdown between Canada and Sweden. Canada took the first game 4-1. Here is game 2.

Agassi VS Kafelnikov US Open 2003 Third Round Second Set
This is the first WS i remember following. My family were all old Brooklyn Dodger fans so we couldn't root for the Yankees. The Mets would be formed the next year and we rooted for them. Thanks for the video.
The players in the 60s were classier and way better than what we have now.
Yaz was tremendous in the 1967 world series.
That's when sports was great not like the crap you see now
I remember I had to record this game on Valentines Day in 1999. Worked at Home Depot that day and it was the day after Marti Gras which I remember a group of Red Wing fans had beers and beeds with a girl that showed all her stuff. She was the only good Red Wings fan I ever knew.
Enos Slaughter ! When ever there post season on the line you should see all the tributes and favorite snacks Enos knoshed on in the dug out ❤️
My last year in Little League was 1964. Our uniforms were white with red lettering. I wore number 8 and batted left handed. Watched and rooted for the new players coming up through the mid 60s. Then came 1967, a freshman in high school watched the games that were televised, but the bulk were listened to on transistor radios. Everyone on the edge of their seats for 162 games. The final weekend beat the Minnesota Twins twice and got to the World Series. The cardiac kids gave us their all. A week after the conclusion of the 67 World Series, late October a charity golf tournament was held at Pleasant Valley Country Club, Sutton, Massachusetts. Tickets were sold to the general public. An estimated crowd of around 10,000 gathered to watch Golf Professional Paul Harney, Bob Cousy, Ken Harrelson and Carl Yastrzemski play 18 holes. This kid capped off the Impossible Dream caddying for Carl Yastrzemski that day! I would have done it for nothing but thank you for the generous tip Mr. Yastrzemski.
A fitting departure.. just a little pop.
500 sports writers?
Back when baseball was worth watching.
It's NOT Team Sweden. It's NOT Team Canada. It's Sweden. It's Canada. When are N. Americans gonna learn.
Cool vid
Two days rest, incredible.....plus, Gibson finished the extra inning game, by throwing the 10'th......can you imagine today, anything like that happening??? The game is unwatchable nowadays.....like girls softball, with all the rule changes, clocks, replays, substitution rules, etc.....
Danny Ozark, first base coach of the Dodgers....in just seven short years, he would be manager of the Phillies....this is when baseball was still pure, pitchers hitting, from Grant to Koufax....just the best era ever of the once great game......now, it's unwatchable, MLB, ESPN, MLB Network have destroyed the once great game of baseball....."The Mudcat", pitches a two hitter on two days rest, a CG, and "chips" in with the game winning 3 run HR.......incredible stuff.....and, when was the last time "you" saw a pepper game? Anyone?? Most today, have never heard of such a thing (a pepper game??)
Even with the bad calls the Yankees were in this series till the end !
Bad calls cost the Yankees this series !
The ball players today should take notes ! The ball players today act like they’re dope! Nope not at all you guys just play for the money these days
This is where the Mall of America sits now.😢
I watched this live and thought, "He's in trouble!"
The 64 series was the end of the Yankee dynasty all their star players were at the end of the rope they didn’t become competitive again until the mid 70s
The Reds got revenge 15 years later when they swept the Yankees four straight in 1976.
Would be nice if the dodgers play at least one or two home games a year at the old Colosseum.
Fantastic old footage. Very enjoyable.👍🎯
Baseball was a great game back in the day.
Andy Kosco will forever be the answer to the trivia question "Who replaced Mickey Mantle after his last at-bat?"
No one’s going to St. Louis in 2024 if they don’t want to get rolled. Glorious America is long gone. I was around in 64. I remember it.
My first World Series, though at age 6 weeks, I was a bit young to be following it closely.
These guys were real deal Holyfield Champions.
4:23 a run scores because a throw hits a bat lying in front of the plate. So does that count as an RBI by the batter?
This was a confusing series for Mantle. He batted .333 with 3 HR and drove in 8. On the other hand, he fielded poorly and was burned on a hidden ball play.
This is what i watch sports of the early years no overkill . And blue collar worker can afford .I'm sure they miss our presence .
His manager ruined him. He insisted that Dick develope a curve. That ruined his fast ball, it took just enough off where he started getting hit.
Neither team used their closer much...
A little less aggressive baserunning by Brock might have won it for StL. Yeah, he stole 7 bases, but some were at times where it didn't matter and he was picked off or thrown out at some bad times. Also he should have slid in Gm 5. Still a great series for Lou.
Amazing what would get on-air talent fired back then
Love the video especially the old unis.
Cuccinello should have been fired on the spot for sending Lollar home with no outs. That turned the whole Series around.
Reds would get their payback, 15 years later!!
1968 definitely the year of the Tiger 🐅!!!
OLD BROOKLYN DODGERS WERE SICK TO THEIR STOMACH TO WATCH THAT 1959 WORLD SERIES KENNETHO

The 1967 Red Sox "Impossible Dream" team is the best Red Sox team that didn't won a World Series title until 2004!!!
GO GET EM TIGERA !
I was a Tiger fan all the way......All, were my heroes, My Fave team of all time....I still love that team.....but Now I am a Braves fan..but, this was awesome!!!!!
Although getting Rickey Henderson was a key mid season, also nabbing Tony Fernandez as well as awesome.
1967 the Red Sox Impossible Dream year. I was seven, at home in Dorchester, and listened to a whole bunch of games with my brother on his cheapo transitor radio in the backyard. Amazing memories!
My husband still has his 1962 GE transistor radio. Well made still great sound. We take it to the beach👍
I love that there were no gatorade baths and home plate parties back then. Just real MEN playing ball meaning business.
This doesn’t even sound like the Harry Caray most of us remember with the Cubs. Doesn’t sound like a drunken clown here.
The narrator was Harry Caray.
